Illinois awards $113.8M to transit providers

The Illinois Department of Transportation recently awarded 32 transit systems $113.8 million through the Rebuild Illinois capital program to advance 44 projects.

The projects provide more transportation options in communities outside the Chicago area and promote an enhanced quality of life.

The St. Clair County Transit District received $10.8 million for the electrification of transit vehicles and charging stations.

The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District received $7.2 million for hybrid bus replacement.

The Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit District received $6 million for six zero-emission buses.
