Liberty Takes Control of Water Treatment

In April of this year, a new wastewater treatment facility opened in Liberty, Mo. The creation of the new facility was the largest capital infrastructure project since Liberty was incorporated in 1829 and now that its up and running the city no longer needs to rely on Kansas City for water treatment.

The 26-acre plant has the capacity to serve up to 70,000 people, double the population of Liberty. In all, the plant is comprised of two remote pumping facilities, three miles of 20-inch forcemain, two miles of 36-inch gravity sewer, and new administration and maintenance offices for the City’s water and wastewater staff.
