Boise, Idaho is rolling out a new pilot program to purify industrial water through a new recycling process.

The Advanced Water Treatment Pilot in Boise will begin sampling water from Micron, a semiconductor manufacturing facility, and purify it through a 3 to 5-step process.

If all goes well, the city plans to open the Recycled Water Program in 2029, committing to the city’s water renewal utility plan.

“We are taking the industrial water from micron their discharge or affluent and we’re pumping that water through the pilot and basically purifying that water through anywhere from 3 to 5 process,” said Royce Davis, Recycled Water Program manager for the City of Boise.
