Maine Committee Extends Waste Contract Deadline for Some Communities

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection has approved draft permits for the $69 million MRC-Fiberight waste-to-energy plant. And now the Municipal Review Committee (MRC) has extended the deadline for some communities that are still considering the new 15-year waste contract with the plant.

The towns of Blue Hills, Bucksport and Surry will have until July 30 to make a decision and regional waste cooperative Mid-Coast Solid Waste Corp. will have until August 30.
