Wilmington College Agriculture Students Lobby on Food Waste in Washington D.C.

Agriculture students from Wilmington College have made a trip to the national capitol to lobby for food waste to be put higher on our political leader’s agendas. The trip takes place as an annual project the program calls “ag-vocacy.” The students met with officials from the U.S Dept. of Agriculture (USDA), the Canadian Embassy, the Friends Committee on National Legislation, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown’s office, and the non-governmental organizations, Food Rescue USA and the Foundation for Food and Agricultural Research. The food waste predicament is likely to become the USDA’s responsibility as part of the 2023 Farm Bill.
