FHWA approves New York’s electric vehicle plan

October 18, 2023

The Federal Highway Administration recently approved New York state’s updated plan to utilize National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program funds for the installation and operation of additional fast-charging stations.

Approval allows the state to receive its next allotment of $37.4 million.

“Creating a climate friendly transportation system demands that we do all we can to encourage the use of electric vehicles,” Marie Therese Dominguez, New York State Department of Transportation commissioner, said. “The Department of Transportation is proud to be a part of this new initiative, which will literally put a charge into New York’s nation-leading efforts to combat global warming and help make (electric vehicles) a more attractive and convenient option for motorists.”
