5G to represent 12% of mobile lines in Latin America by end-2025: GSMA

5G connections are forecasted to represent 12% of total mobile connections in Latin America by 2025, according to a recent report by industry body GSMA.

The report showed that overall 5G connections in the region are expected to reach 86 million by that time.

The report stated that by 2025, some countries will be above the regional average, with Brazil standing out with a projection of 20%.

However, GSMA noted that 4G technology will continue to dominate the mobile industry in Latin America in the short term, accounting for almost 70% of total connections by the end of 2025.
