COVID-19 PPE Creates Waste

We’ve seen first-hand that personal protective equipment (PPE) like masks, gloves and disinfectant wipes is effective in the fight against COVID-19, however, with people not disposing of it properly it’s creating a new problem: waste. And it’s harmful to the environment.

In addition, in Tuscaloosa, Ala. grocery stores have returned to single-use plastic or paper bags instead of having customers bring reusable bags from home. Many restaurants are using single-use menus and take out containers for takeout and University of Alabama campus dining halls are preparing food to-go in single-use containers with plastic utensils.
