Dozens of Minnesota Landfills Leaking PFAS

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) announced findings on Thursday that show 59 closed landfills are contaminating groundwater in the state.

Fifteen of those landfills had PFAS readings of more than 10 times the state acceptable level. The Gofer Landfill had the highest reading, at 1,000 times higher than the state’s standards.

The agency said it is determining a strategy going forward to monitor leachate levels. The state released a PFAS blueprint last month.
