New York Beaches Reopen After Medical Waste Washes Ashore

Beaches in Nassau County, Long Island, N.Y., reopened earlier this week after 60 items of medical waste were found washed up over the weekend. Hempstead Town beaches and Nassau’s Nickerson Beach are now open, as police probe source of medical waste washed ashore.

According to reports, Nassau police are working with the New York City Police Department, the Long Beach Police Department and the Department of Environmental Conservation to identify possible sources.
