The city of San Diego has enacted new recycling requirements for organic waste disposal and closes a loophole that has exempted many businesses and apartment complexes from recycling. The new requirements move the city closer to its goal of producing zero waste by 2040. It also helps the city comply with California’s new restrictions on organic waste that produce methane gas.
The new mandates will create changes in recycling procedures at businesses, single-family homes, apartment buildings and condominium complexes.
