Clearwater, Fla.’s solid waste assistant director Bryant Johnson has resigned after the city failed to get recyclables to the proper location.

Interim City Manager Jennifer Piorrier received a tip that curbside recyclables were not being set to WM (Waste Management)’s facility. She asked Johnson about the situation, who said that materials were being transferred to the right locations.

However, Piorrier found that recyclables were instead being diverted to Pinellas Waste-to-Energy Plant. Recycling has resumed after the assignment of a new assistant director and an interim plan with WM.
