Food and climate change are increasingly becoming advocacy issues tied together, according to speakers at the WasteExpo session, “Municipal and State Food Waste Policy as a Lever for Tackling Climate Change.”
“Food waste and climate action are really increasing,” said Madeline Keating, city strategist, National Resource Defense Council (NRDC). “Food waste is a major climate issue. It’s the third largest greenhouse gas generator.”
