Emmet County in Michigan has taken its recycling program and morphed it into a million-dollar resource for its residents.
The county is credited for finding a solution to recycle plastic bags. The program, which is more than 30 years old, is being used as a guide for the state’s eight-bill package to revolutionize its waste infrastucture.
Years of investment and education have built a “local culture of active recycling in homes, businesses, and public places.”
