Oregon utility delays test for biomass conversion project at coal plant

Portland General Electric has delayed a test designed to demonstrate the viability of converting its Boardman power plant in Oregon to burning biomass instead of coal.

The utility had intended to run the plant using 100% biomass by year end, but delayed that plan until first-quarter 2017 out of “an abundance of caution,” PGE spokesman Steve Corson, said.
