Apple Unveils New iPhone Recycling Robot

Two years ago, Apple introduced Liam, an industrial robot with 29 arms designed to disassemble damaged and returned iPhones. Now, the company has unveiled Daisy, a new iPhone recycling robot that’s capable of taking apart 200 iPhones per hour and disassembling nine different versions of the iPhone, sorting various reusable components.

In addition to the new robot, iPhone has announced GiveBack, a new incentive for consumers to turn in or trade their devices. For every device customers turn in or trade until April 30, the company will make a donation to Virginia-based environmental nonprofit Conservation International.
