Almost 10 percent of the nation has diabetes, and avoiding diabetes isn’t only about lifestyle and diet. Some people are genetically predisposed to the disease: It turns out that children with a family history of diabetic complications will be more at risk for developing similar conditions.
A recent study showed that the children of families with Type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases may have an increased risk of cardiometabolic conditions. With the rising prices of so many drugs, including diabetic insulin, treatment for these life-threatening conditions are becoming more and more of a strain on family budgets.
