Xcel Energy on Oct. 25 said it is proposing to build four new wind farms in Minnesota and North Dakota that would total 750 megawatts and are part of the company’s plan to move away from coal.
Minnesota-based Xcel, an investor-owned utility, is proposing to build the following wind power projects: (1) Freeborn Wind Energy, a 200-MW project located in Freeborn County, Minnesota, developed by Invenergy; (2) Foxtail Wind, a 150-MW project located in Dickey County, North Dakota, developed by NextEra Energy Resources; (3) Blazing Star 1, a 200-MW project located in Lincoln County, Minnesota, developed by Geronimo Energy; and (4) Blazing Star 2, a 200-MW project located in Lincoln County, Minnesota, developed by Geronimo Energy.
