The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (Sepa) has reported that Scotland’s recycling rate reach a record 63.3% in 2022.
The new record is an increase of 5% from 2021 (which finished at 57%). Sepa notes the increase is reflected by economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and help from increases in recycling of construction and demolition waste.
Landfill use hit a record low of 23.2% of all waste, totaling 2.3 million tonnes.
