Two Northeast and Mid-Atlantic utilities are offering special rates and rewards for customers who drive electric vehicles.
Pepco is asking the District of Columbia Public Service Commission to approve an EV pilot program that is based on a program the utility offered in Maryland.
There are only 567 registered plug-in vehicles in the District of Columbia, but Pepco expects the number to grow, the utility said in its April 21 application with the PSC. The pilot is designed to allow Pepco to test various EV incentives, such as discounted time-of-use rates, and to see how vehicle charging can affect the utility’s distribution system.
