California Governor Signs First Wave of Plastic Pollution Reduction Bills

California Gov. Jerry Brown signed three key bills and made his boldest statement to date on the public health and environmental threat posed by plastic pollution and waste. In addition, Brown also signed RNG (renewable natural gas) Coalition-sponsored bill AB 3187 at the state capitol.

“Plastic has helped advance innovation in our society, but our infatuation with single-use convenience has led to disastrous consequences,” said Brown in a statement. “Plastics in all forms—straws, bottles, packaging, bags, etc.—are choking our planet.”
