Energy companies and utilities are increasingly focusing on Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to support energy grid security, products and services, according to a report released Thursday by Vodafone.
The fourth annual IoT Barometer Report used a survey conducted by Circle Research to examine the business impacts that IoT technology can have. Across all sectors, energy companies and utilities were the third largest industry interviewed for the research, behind the retail and manufacturing sectors. All industries combined indicated that the vast majority – 74 percent – believed that IoT technology was critical to the future success of their companies.
