The White House on July 19 unveiled a new goal of bringing 1 gigawatt of solar energy to low- and-moderate income families by 2020 as part of a broader series of initiatives it rolled out aimed at increasing access to solar energy and promoting energy efficiency across the U.S.
The Obama administration announced a new cross-government partnership, the Clean Energy Savings for All Initiative, between the Departments of Energy, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Veteran’s Affairs, and the Environmental Protection Agency.
