The United States Department of Energy has funded $3.5 million to the Argonne National Laboratory to advance battery recycling technology. The funding will also support the effort to expand commercial-scale, domestic production of battery materials.
Argonne scientists have developed new ways to extract materials from batteries, leaving the mready to be recycled and reused. Scientists have also developed a way to evaluate economic and environmental impacts during each stage of a battery’s life.
