Nashville, Tenn., Nonprofit Collects Food for Those in Need

Volunteers from One Generation Away in Nashville, Tenn., collected more than 1,000 pounds of food on Christmas Day to deliver to elderly and disabled communities.

The food collected would have otherwise been thrown away, and the nonprofit rescues from area grocery stores like Publix and Whole Foods to feed those in need for the holidays. According to a WKRN report, up to 40 percent of food produced in Nashville goes uneaten.
