Atomos Unveils Shogun AV-19 for Live Production

Streamlining the complex web of equipment required for professional live production has long been a significant challenge for broadcasters and content creators, often demanding separate, cumbersome devices for monitoring, recording, and switching. At the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2026 event, Atomos addressed this industry-wide pain point with the introduction of the Shogun AV-19, a groundbreaking all-in-one solution poised to redefine workflows in broadcast, live events, and on-set video village environments. This innovative unit is designed as a 19-inch, 7RU rack-mountable powerhouse, ingeniously integrating a high-resolution 4K HDR monitor, a sophisticated multi-channel recorder, and a live switcher into a single, ruggedized chassis. By consolidating these critical functions, the Shogun AV-19 aims to dramatically reduce setup time, minimize potential points of failure, and provide a unified, cohesive interface for production professionals who require reliability and versatility in high-pressure situations. This strategic integration represents a significant step forward in simplifying the technical logistics of multi-camera productions.

A Centralized Hub for Multi-Camera Setups

Engineered to serve as the definitive centerpiece for any multi-camera production, the Shogun AV-19 boasts the formidable capability of simultaneously recording up to four isolated SDI camera feeds, along with a fifth channel dedicated to the final program output. This comprehensive recording functionality ensures that every angle is captured independently, providing maximum flexibility for post-production editing and live-to-tape scenarios. The device offers extensive support for industry-standard professional codecs, including Apple ProRes, ProRes RAW, and Avid DNx, allowing for seamless integration into established post-production pipelines. It can ingest signals from both SDI and HDMI sources, accommodating a wide array of professional cameras and equipment with resolutions scaling up to an impressive 8Kp60 and pristine 10-bit 4:2:2 color fidelity. For media management, the unit provides dual recording options, allowing users to capture footage internally on robust CFexpress cards or externally via a high-speed USB-C connection to SSD storage, thereby facilitating rapid data offloading and accelerating the entire workflow from capture to final edit.

Beyond its recording prowess, the Shogun AV-19 functions as a premium, large-format monitoring tool designed for critical image analysis. The device is built around a vibrant, color-accurate 4K HDR display that adheres to the DCI-P3 color gamut, ensuring that what you see on screen is a true representation of the final image. Atomos has equipped the unit with its full suite of professional monitoring tools, including the innovative EL Zone false color system for precise exposure control, as well as focus peaking, comprehensive waveform analysis, vectorscopes, and quad-view monitoring for viewing all four inputs at once. The inclusion of Log-to-LUT viewing allows creatives to preview graded footage in real-time. This announcement established a new benchmark for integrated production tools by also incorporating advanced connectivity options, such as NDI/HX3 for sending and receiving broadcast-quality video over standard Ethernet networks. Furthermore, the inclusion of dual full-size XLR inputs with 48V phantom power underscored its role as a complete audio-visual solution. Available for pre-order at $2,099, the device was slated to ship by the end of March, signaling a new era of efficiency for production professionals.
